Public Hearings on Impaction

Updated Admissions Criteria

Humboldt State University will be holding a public hearing on a plan to remove selective admissions requirements that were put in place for certain programs. This change will make admission more accessible for all incoming freshmen applicants as well as transfer students in Biology, Botany, Environmental Sciences, Social Work, and Zoology.

Impaction will remain at a program level for Wildlife and includes the future RN-BSN Nursing program starting with Fall 2021 applicants.

These changes would create access for all incoming freshmen applicants and transfer and freshmen applicants in the above programs.

HSU will hold a series of three public hearings on the plan to implement these updated admissions requirements. At these hearings, participants will be able to hear directly from the HSU Director of Admissions or Associate Director of Admissions, ask questions and share feedback. All comments will be considered as HSU decides how to best serve students from the local area, throughout California and beyond.

Comments may be submitted at any of the three hearings, or by using the form on this page. Comments are due no later than March 12, 2020. They will be posted for public review on this website, along with the full name, title, and organization of the commenter. Contact information will not be posted.
