Housing

Part of what makes living and learning here so great are the friends you’ll make. Meet people from different backgrounds who will change the way you see yourself and the world. Be part of a campus community that’s lively, yet down to earth, and one that cares deeply for the planet and for each other. Plus everything you need is within reach. Walk to class, grab a bite to eat at the J dining hall, or play pool at the Gutswurrak Student Activities Center. It’s all here on campus!

The right space to call home

Meet new people, build a community, and immerse yourself in all things Cal Poly Humboldt! By living in campus housing, you get the full college experience. We have a variety of housing options: traditional residence halls, apartments, suites, or off-campus housing managed by Cal Poly Humboldt. Each comes with a list of amenities, facilities, and other features to make Humboldt your home away from home.

Shared living experience

Another perk of living at Humboldt is the option to live in a residence hall organized around a particular academic, cultural, or personal interest. Academic Intensive Living, for instance, provides an atmosphere that encourages scholastic achievement and respect for individual academic goals. Sankofa House is intended for students with an interest in exploring Black culture, history, identity, and African diasporic intellectual traditions.

Living in the local community

Living off campus is a great way to get to know the local community and everything it has to offer, from eateries to celebrations and events. To help find a place to live, Cal Poly Humboldt’s Off-Campus Housing Office provides resources and answers your off-campus housing questions. The sweet spot to find housing for the Fall semester is April to June. Start EARLY to have the most success!

Things to do

Whether it’s visiting a local art gallery, learning to kayak, or doing volunteer work, Humboldt is the perfect place to be adventurous and try new things. We have an amazing variety of clubs. The local community is home to coffee houses, art galleries, restaurants, boutiques, and independent bookstores. And the great outdoors is truly great here. Bike, camp, canoe, climb, hike, kayak, surf … all within minutes of campus.
