About the California State University Placement Tests

The California State University (CSU) has made sweeping changes to their developmental education policy for admitted students. As a result, beginning October 1, 2017, the English Placement Test (EPT) and Entry-Level Mathematics Exam (ELM) will no longer be required.

The CSU policy changes include:

  • expanded use of multiple measures for course placement in the first year
  • the elimination of non-credit bearing prerequisite courses
  • strengthening the Early Start Program

Please see the CSU’s press release for additional information or contact the campus you plan to attend.

Students entering in 2018 may be placed with the current standardized tests - EAP/CAASPPP, SAT, and/or ACT.

It is your responsibility to provide your official SAT or ACT scores to the Office of Admissions prior to orientation.
