Freshman Orientation

The freshman orientation program at Humboldt State is a 3 day all inclusive experience where you will be exposed to every aspect of Humboldt life. You will learn what it means to be a successful student academically. You will learn what it means to be an HSU Lumberjack. You’ll be exposed to students from around the world and you’ll make new friends every day. Our orientation program is designed to welcome you and make you feel truly at home. We are so excited to share our wonderful campus community with you and can’t wait to see you in August.

Orientation Preparation

Orientation registration will open on March 1st, 2018. An email with further details will be sent sometime in February.

  • Carefully review the deadlines outlined in myHumboldt. Pay close attention since these deadlines affect your ability to enroll at HSU.
  • Orientation activities will begin the night of housing move-in on Tuesday, August 14th and will continue through Friday, August 17th
  • Submit immunization records before you register for classes. See the Health Information page for more details.
  • Make travel arrangements for your trip to campus. Families and guests should also secure area lodging as early as possible.

Steps to Class Registration

Freshman class registration will open on June 18th. You will receive further communications regarding this process via your email sometime in early May. Please ensure you have completed all the steps below to be eligible for class registration.  

Step 1: Sign up for your orientation program by June 2.

Step 2: Ensure that your to do list is up to date and that your contact information in your student center is accurate.
Step 3: Check your email throughout the month of May to receive instructions on how to access the Freshman Registration Tutorial.
Step 4: Complete the freshman registration tutorial.
Step 5: Register for classes!
